Reefer Diagnostic Wizard
Verify physical checks before calling emergency dispatch. Resolve simple sensors, air locks, or power plug problems.
What is the primary symptom?
Select the issue to start diagnostic checks.
Warm Temp Diagnostics
Answer the following questions to verify local conditions.
1. Is the reefer unit currently in Defrost Cycle?
When in defrost, the heating system melts ice. Temperature displays may rise temporarily, and air fans will stop blowing.
2. Is the diesel fuel gauge above 15%?
If diesel fuel levels drop below 10%, the microprocessor shuts down components to protect fuel injection pumps from sucking air lock.
3. Is there a physical blockage around the evaporator air ducts?
Pallets stacked too high or plastic packaging blocking the top ceiling vents will arrest the return airflow, preventing the reefer from pulling down temperature.
Status: Normal Defrost Cycle
Do not panic. Defrost cycles typically last 30 to 45 minutes depending on coil humidity. Keep cargo doors closed. Once the defrost completes, the fans will start and return to cooling.
Wait 30 minutes. If temperature does not begin to drop after, restart this wizard.
Status: Low Diesel Shutdown
Reefer controllers shut down the diesel engine when fuel is low to prevent air from entering the combustion manifold. Fill fuel tanks immediately. If engine does not start after refueling, you may need to bleed air locks.
Status: Air Blockage restriction
Re-arrange cargo stack. Leave at least 10 inches of airspace at the top of the container or trailer to allow cold air to travel to the rear double doors.
Blank Controller Diagnostics
Check electrical connections and fuses to restore digital systems.
1. Are you running on 3-Phase electric standby?
2. Verify Battery Terminals and Inline Fuses
Locate the battery box (usually under the chassis frame or inside the front hatch). Verify cables are tight and clean. Check the 15A inline fuse near the alternator harness.
Standby Power check required
Perform checks carefully:
- Check if the site circuit breaker has tripped.
- Verify the safety rotation lock ring is turned fully clockwise.
- Unplug and check connector pins for burn marks or water ingress.

Unresolved Fault: Request Dispatch
Authorized technician support required immediately.
Do not allow cargo to rise above safety thresholds. Contact our Anchorage emergency dispatcher. A mobile truck with tools and refrigerants will be routed directly to your coordinates.
